I had been playing the acoustic guitar for over 30 years when my son Thomas announced that he wanted to learn how to play the electric guitar. That was music to my ears so I bought him a brand new green Fender Stratocaster, which he took an immediate liking to. Then, after a few short months and to my utter suprise, he started getting better than me with licks and leads which I found to be unacceptable given my 30 years of experience. So like any other self-respecting father, I took lessons. Thomas' mentor was Metallica. My mentor was B. B. King.
"Dirty Corner" was written in the style of B. B. King and in the classic 12 measure, someone done somebody wrong blues genre. I'm sure Thomas will nail this one too.

I retired from banking after nearly 30 years of loyal and tireless service. Far too often, I was either on the receiving side or the delivery side of mergers, consolidations and corporate politics. What I learned over the years is that no matter how you look at it or where you sit, it's a "No Win Situation."

Every now and then thoughts cross our minds that make us smile. For me it can happen at the most inappropriate times. Every now and then, we may feel like raising a little Hell, being alone or just singing out loud.

Whether they were from the right side of the aisle or from the left, five out of the last seven presidents and a handful of our presidential hopefuls were left handed. "South Paw" was written during the McCain versus Obama presidential campaign where two lefties, one from the political right and the other from the left fought for the middle by leaning toward the opposing direction.

Keeping pace with Bob Parker musically is no easy task for me and I am a better musician for it. That said, keeping the pasce when playing with me is no easy task either as Bob claims that I tend to rush the tempo. I wrote this song while Bob was visiting me in Atlanta. He thinks the tempo is "Too Fast."

It is not often that I seek my younger brothers' or friends advice on relationships or other matter of the heart but they are all quite accustomed to my miscues, mischief and unintended consequences. However, I caught them by suprise when I called for advice regarding exit strategies for a well executed and I thought well deserved silent treatment that wouldn't risk a spousal counter attack. I was stuck! You see, I'm always on the receiving end of the silent treatment and they are always very effective. This was my first and last attempt at giving one back. The advice was unanimous.
