Calico Strings
Mindless "couch noodling" on the guitar while watching television is the equivalent to talking on the cell phone while driving. In either case, they are distractions away from the purpose of why you are sitting and an annoyance for the person that';s sitting next to you. "Calico Strings" is a favorite song of mine who's origin was the product of some serious couch noodling. I call it "Calico Strings" because of the variety and mixture of strings played and for the variation of sounds and musical movements.

Sunday Morning Angel
A Sunday morning is a special morning for a variety of reasons. Sunday's for example, are a day of rest and Sunday's Child is "...bonny and blithe and good and gay." Sunday morning is special for me because it is a time that Joan and I have reserved for "us" to reconnect and to reconfirm our love for each other. She is my special "Sunday Morning Angel."

Autumn's Child
This song is dedicated to my God Daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Hurt Yoensky whose birth in the autumn of 1983 and life were special gifts for a special couple and dear friends of mine. Liz left us after completing the circle of life in the autumn of 2010.

Fishing Hole
We all have a fishing hole where we like to go to relax in our own way, unwind and to get lost in our own thoughts. Sometimes a fishing hole is at the end of a slow walk through misty woods and down a familiar path. Other times, it's simply a mental destination. Either way, only the most loved are invited to join us at the fishing hole. I wrote this song with the essence of my brother Wilson in mind.

Herman
His name is Jesse Franklin Goins III. We called him "Ted" and his father called him "Herman" because he didn't know prior to birth whether Ted was going to be a "her" or a "man."
Simple living in a complicated world and deceiving agile in life, love and on the racquetball court. Ted's default in life is to what's right or in someone else best interest, love and to a commitment. On the racquetball court, he's humble but viscous.
Unlike Ted, the song "Herman" has a humble beginning, which is followed by a more complex structure and rhythm. After his introduction, Ted (the trombone) layers in a simple melody in the first chorus then shares it with friends & family (the trumpet section) to have fun with in the second chorus. But, in the end, Ted gets the last word.
